New date set for HMS Collingwood Open Day in Fareham as thousands raised for charity
Sailors at the Fareham training base raised more money for good causes than last year
Dedicated fundraisers at HMS Collingwood have raised tens-of-thousands of pounds for various charities at this year’s Open Day.
This summer’s event at the Fareham training base on July 4 saw more funds raised than last year. Commanding Officer of HMS Collingwood, Captain John Cromie, said: “Open Day is a highlight of the year for everyone at HMS Collingwood.

“It is an opportunity to open our gates to the local community, share a glimpse of life in the Royal Navy, and showcase the world-class training delivered here every day. We are also incredibly proud that the event raises vital funds for local and naval charities, and it is a privilege to present these donations to such deserving organisations.”
This year saw £24,000 raised for good causes, compared to £20,000 in 2025. Representatives from the organisations visited HMS Collingwood to receive the donations. The Mayor of Fareham, Councillor Mrs Tina Ellis, joined them for a special reception.
She accepted a donation on behalf of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC), one of her chosen charities. Other organisations receiving donations include 5th Gosport Sea Scouts, GAFIRS, Stafford and Rugeley Sea Cadets, Level Up, and Marvels and Meltdowns.
More than 8,000 people visited this year’s Open Day. They enjoyed fun-filled attractions including the Field Gun Competition, funfair and warship simulators. Next year’s event is scheuled for July 3, 2027.
