Dadzclub is hosting Portsmouth's first international men's day event next month

Dadzclub is hosting an awards event at Portsmouth Guildhall to celebrate International Men’s Day and recognise male role models who have had a positive impact on their families and society.

This event will be Portsmouth’s first International Men’s Day event and Dadzclub wants to promote positive male voices that help inspire people, and the event will bring people together.

The event will take place on International Men’s Day, which is on November 19, and people will be able to attend the free event with a ticket from Eventbrite.

One of the main aspects of the evening will be the appreciation awards ceremony that will help place recognition on some inspiring men and young boys.

Matt Foster, Dadzclub CEO, said: ‘Portsmouth's first International Men's Day event promises to be a prestigious and inclusive night that raises awareness of issues affecting men and boys and shines a light on deserving role models in Portsmouth.’

Dadzclub is a Portsmouth based community service that looks to help fathers and their children come together and find like-minded individuals, who can explore different aspects of male parenting along the way.

The team offer multiple routes of support for dads including stay and play socials for fathers and their children, a Whatsapp group for dads to message in for support and advice, a Facebook group and a number of organised events.

It works with partnerships to improve services for dads, while ensuring that they explore gender equality when looking at parenting methods.

The event will offer a drinks reception with a finger food buffet, as well as hosting a number of diverse speakers to talk about their experiences.

People will also be able to nominate their loved ones to be up for the appreciation awards and the deadliner to submit nominations will be on October 31, and successful nominations will be notified before November 5, and they will be sent a ticket for themselves and a guest.

The successful nominees will be presented with an official certificate and an International Men's Day pillar award.
