Arriving in early January, six-year-old Poppy and 10-year-old Millie required the centre’s long term care due to a change in their owners' circumstances.

Volunteer Phill Upshall said: ‘Poppy is an inquisitive and outgoing donkey, Little Millie is far more timid and wary of people but with time and our care she will respond.’

After much consideration due to funding difficulties during the pandemic, the team was able to offer lifelong care and love for these wonderful animals.

The sanctuary has been hit hard during the pandemic, as it has been closed to visitors for much of the year which has impacted their fundraising efforts.

Donations can be made through the charity’s website, and adoption costs £24 per year.
