Exciting Pride of Portsmouth lion trail takes a giant leap forward as official sponsors are confirmed

Portsmouth’s Pride of the Lion trail has taken a step forward with businesses stepping forward to take part in the summer spectacular trail.

All of the sponsors and supporters who are backing Portsmouth City Council’s Pride of Portsmouth lion trail have been confirmed. This means residents and visitors alike will be able to embark on a treasure hunt style activity to find all 45 of the full‑size lion sculptures across the city in the summer.

It is part of the Portsmouth100 celebrations which mark 100 years since Portsmouth became a city, and the support of the businesses ensures the project can commission artists, produce large‑scale sculptures, and deliver a creative, free‑to‑enjoy experience for residents and visitors.

Councillor Steve Pitt, Leader of Portsmouth City Council said: "We are pleased to confirm the sponsors who are helping bring the Pride of Portsmouth lion trail to life.

"Their support enables us to commission local artists, showcase creativity across the city, and deliver a free and engaging cultural experience for residents and visitors to enjoy as part of the Portsmouth100 celebrations."

All shortlisted designs will be displayed at Aspex Portsmouth from February 12 to 22. This free exhibition gives residents and visitors the chance to explore the designs up close before the final selection is made.

The sponsors will choose their top five designs, with the final artist–sponsor pairings announced later this year, with the final group of artists commissioned to bring their designs to life.
