Hayling Island drivers sat in terrible traffic delays with delays longer than an hour

Drivers have been taking to social media this afternoon to warn others about the hefty delays getting off of Hayling Island.

Traffic is currently backed up all the way down to Hayling Island beach and the main route, Langstone Road and Havant Road, are extremely congested.

Some drivers have posted to Hayling Island community groups on Facebook warning others about the delays which, for some, have been well over an hour. The traffic is affecting people looking to get off of Hayling Island and is mainly due to the A27 road closure that is in place between Havant and Emsworth eastbound.

It has also been reported that there are lengthy delays on the A27 eastbound, backing down to Farlington.

The A27 closure is in place all weekend and the road is not due to reopen until Monday, September 23 at 6am. The closure has been implemented so that repairs to the brigde can be completed.
