M27 slip road lane closure due to flooding

THE heavy rain has taken its toll on the M27 with a slip road lane having to be closed due to flooding.

Lane one of the Junction 9 westbound slip road at Whiteley has had to be closed due to surface water.

Drivers have been warned to ‘approach with caution’.

It comes after the Environment Agency issued serious ‘red’ flood warnings due to the tide being ‘higher than normal’.

Residents of Fareham, Langstone and Emsworth have been warned to expect flooding and told ‘immediate action required’.

Lesser flood alerts also remain in place for Portsmouth, Hillhead to Gosport, North Harbour to Brockhampton and Hayling Island, these amber warnings say that flooding is possible and asks residents to ‘be prepared’.

In Fareham, the Environment Agency said this morning’s tide at 11.15am would be higher than normal due to Storm Sebastien which brings strong south westerly Force 7 winds.
