M3 closure this weekend while bridge is demolished in £322million project - diversions in place
Diversions are in place as a busy motorway is closed this weekend
A major Hampshire motorway is set to be closed this weekend to allow for the demolition of a bridge as part of a £322 million revamp.
From 9pm on Friday, November 6 to 6am on Monday, November 9 the M3 will be closed in both directions between junction 8 and 9 to demolish the old southern bridge. It follows a recent closure to demolish the northern bridge as part of the Junction 9 scheme.

These north and south bridges made up the junction's roundabout, which National Highways has replaced with a new gyratory earlier this year as part of a major upgrade to the busy junction used by the South’s motorists to head towards the Midlands, Wales and the North.

A diversion will be in place along the A34 and the A303 via Sutton Scotney.
A National Highways spokesperson said: “This is a major milestone in our M3 Junction 9 improvements. We'll work day and night to minimise disruption.”
