Woman taken to hospital after crash flips car onto its roof in Eastney

A grey Vauxhall Corsa overturned after colliding with a stationary Vauxhall Mokka parked on the side of Locksway Road at 3.50pm.
Emergency services including a police, an ambulance, and a fire engine from Southsea fire station were called to the scene.

Hide AdThe young woman driving the flipped car suffered bruises and an injury to her hand that required her to be taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital for treatment.


The driver had been waving to a friend in the stationary vehicle when the collision occurred, according to Southsea fire station acting manager Simon Haswell.
He said: ‘She was only distracted for a moment.’
‘t was an unusual one – it looks like the front left of the car that flipped hit the back right of the stationary car and it was like a corner to corner collision.
‘It was almost parallel to the parked car.’

Hide AdA male passenger in the overturned car was not reported as suffering any injuries.
A third vehicle – a a Honda Jazz – was also caught in the collision, a spokesman from Hampshire Constabulary confirmed.
A passer-by, who lives in Southsea, said: ‘The car was a mess, and the road was closed both ways.
‘Someone had put out cones to stop traffic.’
