The Canadian-born world record holder took less than a minute to pull the truck along Fareham’s West Street.

The incredible feat was part of a fundraiser organised by Fareham fire station which also saw 45 children from the Fareham Heathens Rugby Club take part.

Cheered on by the crowds, the firefighters were also persuaded to give it a go.

Speaking after completing the challenge, Jacob said: ‘It was not easy, it was a little tougher than I hoped.

‘I didn’t really have the chance to train but I am happy that I was able to do it and get it off the start line.

‘The support from the crowd was fantastic. Without them cheering me on, it would have been quite a bit harder.’

The event, on Saturday, was raising money for the Fareham and Gosport Basics Food Bank as well as the Firefighters Charity.

It was supported by Our Saviour Lutheran Church, in Furzehall Avenue, Fareham, which Jacob is a member of.

In total, the truck was pulled four times.

Dave Higgins, crew member for Fareham blue watch, said the day had been a great success.

‘We have had a great response from the public who seemed to like seeing the pulls,’ he said.

‘First, we had around 45 children from the rugby club who pulled the fire engine in a fantastic feat of strength. They were really good and it was great entertainment.’

He added: ‘These sort of events allow us to get out in the community and give safety information and advice.

‘We can engage with the public and get across our safety messages.’
