Here is how hot it got in the Portsmouth area yesterday

Temperatures soared as the sun continued to shine for yet another day.
It had been predicted that Thursday would be the hottest day of the year in the Portsmouth area by forecasters.

Hide AdThe Met Office was forecasting highs of 24C, which would have beaten the previous record for 2020 of 23.2C on May 9.
But did yesterday turn out to be the hottest day of the year?

The Gosport Weather station recorded that temperatures reached a high of 26.2C, making it the warmest day of the 2020 so far.

Hide AdPictures show that the beaches in Southsea were busy as people flocked to make the most of the sunny weather.
The photos did seem to show that sun-seekers were following social distancing guidelines and there were plenty of gaps between them.
