Discover the best attractions in Hampshire
Hampshire dominates Tripadvisor’s breakdown of the best attractions across the South East.
Five Hampshire attractions including Portsmouth Historic Dockyard have made it onto a guide of the South East’s best venues to spend a day out.
Media agency, One Day Agency, analysed Tripadvisor reviews for 472 attractions across the UK, including 40 in the South East, to find which ones visitors have responded to most positively. The research considered both the percentage of five-star reviews and the total number of reviews received, with arenas and stadiums excluded from the ranking.

Sitting at the top of the list is the Hawk Conservancy Trust Bird of Prey Centre, in Andover, which has 3,578 reviews, 94.38 per cent of which are five stars. The centre is an award-winning attraction that cares for birds of prey - click here to get your ticket.
The Mary Rose comes second and gives guests the one-of-a-kind opportunity to delve deeper into the history Henry VIII’s favourite ship, which was recovered from the bottom of the Solent. Combining innovative technology and modern storytelling, this experience has a score of 76.22 out of 100. Discover the tale today - get your tickets here.
Portsmouth Historic Dockyard is fourth on the guide and received 8,823 reviews, of which 75.30 per cent gave it the maximum rating. To visit the dockyard, click here.
Offering something slightly different, but equally thrilling, is Romsey-based Paulton’s Park which closely follows the dockyard.
Royal Navy Museums: HMS Victory is the last Hampshire venue on the list, and it has been recognised as the seventh best attraction in the South East, with 75.64 per cent of customers rating it five stars. To explore Nelson’s flagship - click here.
Alexandra Gonçalves, paid media manager at One Day Agency, said: “Smaller, specialist attractions can have an advantage because the experience often feels more personal. At this type of venue, visitors may spend more time speaking to knowledgeable staff, get closer to the subject and see the enthusiasm of the people running it. Those details tend to stick with people when they leave a review.
“It's also striking that a specialist wildlife attraction finishes ahead of some of the South East's most famous historic landmarks and theme parks. Visitors aren't necessarily judging an attraction by its fame or cultural importance. They're judging how the day actually felt, whether the staff added something to the experience and whether they came away feeling that the visit was worth their time.”
