Why I’d choose LEGO DUPLO for a two-year-old while sets are 25% off

There is a lot to be said for a toddler toy that doesn’t involve pressing a button and listening to the same noise over and over again. My son is too old for LEGO DUPLO now, but with a two-year-old niece, I can see exactly why these colorful bricks are still a great choice for kids.
I’d much rather give a toddler something they can actually do something with, rather than a toy that does everything for them. DUPLO lets them build, knock down, start again and decide what happens next, which is why it remains one of those toys I’d happily have around the house.
And right now, selected LEGO DUPLO sets are up to 25% off at Very, making it a good time to pick up a set for a toddler’s toy box.
For my niece, I’d be looking at something that gives her plenty to explore without being overly complicated. At two, there’s something quite satisfying about being able to pick up the chunky bricks, join them together and see an idea take shape, even if that idea ends up being knocked down five minutes later.

That hands-on element is a big part of the appeal for me. Little hands are working out how the pieces fit together, while toddlers can experiment with different shapes and constructions. It is play that can change every time they pick it up, rather than simply following the same sequence of lights, sounds or buttons.
I like that DUPLO doesn't need to be treated as a sit-down activity. A few bricks can become a house, a tower, a farm or whatever a toddler decides they are making that day. There is room for imagination, but without needing an adult to come up with a complicated game.
My son still loves LEGO and has moved on to complicated sets like Start Wars and Harry Potter. However, DUPLO has come back in our lives through my niece. At two-years-old, she is at exactly the age where those big, easy-to-handle bricks make sense.
With selected sets currently up to 25% off at Very, it could also be a useful option if you're looking for a birthday present, Christmas gift or simply something new for a toddler who has outgrown their current toys.
