Popular Pompey fan Nigel Tresidder dies

Well-known Pompey fan and former Portsmouth Supporters' Club (Central Branch) chairman Nigel Tresidder has died.

Tresidder, who ran the Newcome Arms pub near Fratton Park for 17 years up until 2014, lost his long fight with illness this morning.

A popular figure among the Blues community, Tresidder’s pub was visited by former chairmen Milan Mandaric and Sacha Gaydamak during their time at the club.

And the death of a lifelong Pompey fan has seen a number of tributes posted on the central branch’s Facebook page and all across social media.

Portsmouth FC Supporters Club (Central Branch) posted the sad news on Facebook this morning, writing: ‘It is with great sadness that we have to announce the passing this morning of our former Chairman Nigel Tresidder.
‘He was a great man who did so much for Portsmouth FC Supporters Club (CB).

‘He will be sadly missed but never forgotten.

‘R.I.P Nigel.’
