The transfer window is now officially open, meaning clubs up and down the country can go about plotting their business for the upcoming season.

Things have been a little different at Pompey so far because of a League One salary cap of £2.5m potentially being implemented.

Nevertheless, the rumour mill will still continue to churn, with the Blues targeting another promotion push after suffering play-off semi-final defeat to Oxford.

On the day of the transfer window opening, we’ve taken a look at how things currently stand for Pompey.

Incomings

Pompey have been in discussions with numerous targets, although the uncertainty of the salary cap means they're unable to commit to deals.

The Blues will be prioritising a centre-back and a left-back during the transfer window.

Sean Raggett is a target to fill a void in central defence.

He scored two goals in 38 appearances while on loan from Norwich last season.

After a shaky start, Raggett's form slowly but surely improved and he won over swathes of supporters.

The Brighton youngster is an England under-20 international and was on the bench for their goalless draw with Newcastle in the Premier League last week.

Another familiar face that we could see back at Fratton Park is Cameron McGeehan.

The midfielder spent the second half of last term on loan from Barnsley, netting twice in 17 outings.

The Blues are again upbeat over the chances of landing McGeehan once again, with Barnsley avoiding relegation from the Championship on the final day of the season.

Kenny Jackett is a huge admirer and a loan switch is the only avenue that looks possible for Pompey as they're unable to finance a permanent swoop for the ex-Luton man.

Who else has been linked?

Jordan Clark was on Pompey's radar after turning down a new deal at Accrington, according to Edinburgh Live.

The Blues have also been linked with striker Adam Le Fondre from Sydney FC.

Pompey announced their retained list shortly after they crashed out of the play-offs, with the likes of Brett Pitman and Oli Hawkins departing.

Brandon Haunstrup was offered a new deal, but he turned it down having grown frustrated because of a lack of first-team opportunities.

Lee Brown is also yet to pen a fresh contract. The vice-skipper has also been tabled an offer but remains in negotiations with the club.

However, Pompey could have to fight off interest in two of their prized assets.

Alex Bass's impressive form during the second half of the season after taking over as No1 keeper has unsurprisingly caught the eye of admirers.

Premier League side Crystal Palace are interested in the 22-year-old, who's contracted at Fratton Park until the summer of 2023.

Pompey are in a strong bargaining position when it comes to Bass and there could be a temptation to cash in on him with fans' favourite Craig MacGillivray also at the club.

The Republic of Ireland international enjoyed a prolific campaign, scoring 14 goals and created a further 12.

With Pompey failing to escape League One, clubs from the Championship could look to make a swoop.

However, the Blues have their asset well protected, with Curtis' deal also expiring in June 2023.
