'Fast becoming a liability. Errors are killing us': Portsmouth faithful all say same thing after frustrating Stoke defeat

The Fratton faithful have blasted Nicolas Schmid’s performance after Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Stoke City.

Pompey suffered a frustrating reverse to the Potters, bringing their impressive six-game unbeaten run to a crushing close.

Tyrese Shade fired the Blues into an early lead as they started where they left off against Swansea City in midweek.

But, the Potters turned the contest on its head when Jack McGlynn first capitalised on a Schmid error to draw the visitors level.

And moments later, Ben Wilmot fired into an empty net after another costly mistake from the Austrian.

Mousinho’s men were unable to find a late breakthrough, with the defeat bringing their unbeaten streak to a end.

And Schmid’s costly errors - along with referee Ben Speedie’s performance - has been slammed by the Fratton faithful on social media.

Here’s the best of the reaction on X.

Pompey faithful all say same thing after frustrating 2-1 Stoke defeat

@OjKemp99: 2 poor goals to concede that Nico won’t want to look back on anytime soon. Hands down the worst referee to set foot on Fratton Park in the last 20 years.

@AlfJohn2003: 1st January 0001 Toby Steward gets recalled.

@tempajaj: Awful from Schmid and a shit referee but stoke the better team, the run was fun while it lasted.

@d_fferr: That’s the worst refereeing performance I’ve seen since Tuesday.

@PompeyHazza9: I don’t care who but put someone else in goal too many mistakes way too often for Schmid.

@zxc_2589: Drop Schmid permanently. There is always a mistake in him every other game. He cant be our starter. Also Kamara has been a passenger for a long time now. He should earn his place. Give Kenny ago.

@mcrblue588: Must sign a new keeper in January.

@Willfrattonpark: These goalkeeping errors are killing us.

@MattRooksTaylor: Shocking second half after probably the best first half this season.. Kavuma-McQueen should've been subbed on a lot earlier.

@andymp345: Second half was woeful had no ideas Segecic should stayed on really surprise considering 1st half was very impressive schmid really on thin ice at the moment.

@Hernandez13_1: Although the ref was completely clueless, Schmid gifting them their equaliser didn’t help. Deserved a point at least, should have put the game to bed by HT.

@HazzaTWood96: We lose at home to Stoke after taking the lead. So disappointing that the run has come to an end and Schmid costing us again as well. Congrats on your first Pompey goal Shade but it was only the opening goal today, PUP.

@joerobbs: Abysmal second half after a good first half. But not much you can do when your keeper throws two in his net.

@Garysparrow15: Schmid is fast becoming a liability. And the ref was inconsistent at best.
