‘Turned down offers’: Burton Albion transfer chief details battle as Portsmouth land £2.2m attacker
Pompey signed Tyrese Shade in a deal which could rise to £2.2m from Burton Albion.
Burton Albion sporting director Richard Dorman revealed there was ‘significant interest’ in new Pompey signing Tyrese Shade throughout the summer.
And the Pirelli Stadium transfer chief believes the Brewers have received substantial profit on the attacker, who made the move to Fratton Park on deadline day.

Although the agreement was announced as an undisclosed fee, it is understood John Mousinho’s men paid the League One outfit £1.8m for his services, with that figure expected to rise to £2.2m in add ons.
Shade arrives at Fratton Park after enjoying a brilliant maiden campaign with Burton, which saw him net 14 goals in 45 appearances after his switch from Eastleigh in July 2025.
That followed a season with the Spitfires that also produced 14 goals.
Pompey won the race for the St Kitts and Nevis international amid plenty of Championship interest throughout the summer.

And Dorman has admitted the Brewers had fended off ‘significant interest’ in their prized asset since the January window, although Pompey’s summer offer now represents good business for the League One outfit.
Speaking on Burton’s club website, the sporting director said: ‘Tyrese is someone who now defines the way we are building the recruitment system here, one of the crucial pillars of the wider club strategy.
‘He arrived from Non-League, was given his chance in the First Team, and has earned his move to the Championship.
He has had significant interest in him since the winter transfer window, another player that we turned down offers for as we were focused on retaining our place in the league.
‘It’s important that we now celebrate his contributions, congratulate him on his move and view this as a success.
‘We now have a significant transfer profit to reinvest into the club, the stadium and the playing squad in the future.’
Former Pompey loanee makes deadline day move to Burton
Shade has penned a three-year deal at Fratton Park and was one of two arrivals through the doors on deadline day.
The 26-year-old joined alongside left-back Jayden Meghoma, who has signed a season-long loan deal from Brentford.
Mousinho had been looking to bolster his front-line ahead of the window’s climax following Thomas Waddingham’s serious injury setback last month.
This will see Shade compete with Colby Bishop and €5m arrival Marko Milovanovic for a starting spot and could be available to make his debut against Cardiff City this Saturday.
Meanwhile, Burton Albion recruited former Pompey loanee Mark O’Mahoney on deadline day to fill the void left by the new Fratton Park signing.
The Irishman made the temporary switch from Brighton, penning a season-long loan at the Pirelli Stadium.
