Portsmouth confirm 12th new signing after transfer window closes
Pompey strike last-gasp deal for Burton Albion forward Tyrese Shade
Pompey have welcomed a second new arrival on transfer deadline day.
After prolonged negotiations, it’s been confirmed that Tyrese Shade has put pen to paper on a move to Fratton Park.
The 26-year-old has signed a three-year deal with the Blues for an undisclosed fee. Although, The News understands a £1.8m fee was struck with the League One Brewers, with the figure potentially rising to £2.2m with add ons.
Former Eastleigh forward Shade joins Brentford defender Jayden Meghoma in making the switch to Fratton Park.
Both players were signed in the dying embers of the transfer window, with confirmation of Shade’s move coming an hour after Tuesday night’s 11pm deadline had passed.
The forward joins just a year after moving to the Pirelli Stadium from the Spitfires last summer.
In his first season with Gary Bowyer’s side, the Birmingham-born attacker scored 14 goals in 45 appearances.
That followed a season at Eastleigh that also produced 14 goals.
Shade sat out Burton’s first three games of the season amid talk about a potential Pirelli Stadium exit.
However, he returned to the side on Saturday and came on as a second-half substitute in the 2-1 defeat at Notts County.
Shade represents Pompey’s 12th signing of the transfer window and is in line to make his Blues debut in Saturday’s game against Cardiff at Fratton Park.
Welcoming the St Kitts and Nevis international to Fratton Park, John Mousinho said: ‘We’re thrilled to add another player to our forward line and Tyrese has the ability to really get fans off their seats.
‘We’ve brought someone in who we feel can have a positive impact in the Championship and I’m excited to start working with him.’
