Portsmouth handed huge ticket allocation for Carabao Cup first-round tie at West Ham - and they come cheap, too

Pompey fans will be out in force when the Blues take on West Ham in the first round of the Carabao Cup on August 8.

A huge sea of blue will potentially greet Pompey when they kick-off their 2026-27 season at West Ham next month.

The Blues travel to the Hammers’ London Stadium in the first round of the Carabao Cup on Saturday, August 8 (3pm).

The game will be the first meeting between the two sides in the capital since September 2011. It will also be Pompey’s maiden trip to the venue that hosted the Olympic Games in 2012, with West Ham leaving Upton Park and moving to their new home in 2016.

The Stratford ground has a capacity of 62,500 on match days - and it appears that figure has allowed Pompey’s hosts to be generous with the number of away tickets they’ve allocated the Blues for the fixture.

Indeed, Pompey have been given a staggering 9,000 tickets in the Sir Trevor Brooking Stand for the game, which could see the biggest Pompey invasion of London since the 2019 Checkatrade Trophy final against Sunderland at Wembley, when more than 40,000 members of the Fratton faithful descended on the capital.

And to make the fixture even more appealing, no Pompey fan will pay more than £10 for their match entry. When the sales window opens next week, an adult ticket will cost £10, anyone over 65 can expect to pay £8, under-21s will be charged £8, while fans under the age of 18 can buy their ticket for just £1.
