From the despair of QPR to preserving their Championship status just six games later, it has been another emotionally exhausting season for Pompey.
Certainly few among the Fratton faithful wouldn’t have anticipated staying up with two games to spare after that 6-1 hammering at Loftus Road.
Still, John Mousinho has once again overseen survival, steering the Blues into 18th position and collecting one more point than last term.
And here are Neil Allen’s Pompey player ratings for the season…

29. Gustavo Caballero - 7
(12 games, 1 goal) Signed on loan from Santos with Pompey having an exclusive transfer option for around £2.5m, it was a no-lose situation for John Mousinho & Co. However, the Blues boss admits their valuation of newly-capped Paraguayan international having seen him play doesn’t now quite match up and will need to be renegotiated. Still, there is plenty to like about Caballero. Rapid, committed, a hard worker and capable of touches of class, undoubtedly in full flow he is enjoyable to watch. Plus there was that superb finish at Millwall. It’s just a shame that injury ruled him out after Middlesbrough, sidelining the attacker for the final five games of the season. | Getty Images

30. Conor Chaplin - 6
(37 games, 2 goals) Much was expected when the prodigal son returned home, yet the outcome was best summed up by Chaplin himself when he signed off with ‘not always a fairytale’. Sadly, despite everyone being desperate for the attacker to succeed in his second Fratton Park spell, he failed to ignite, even when played in his favoured number 10 role rather than a brief period on the right wing. At least Chaplin had his moment scoring in front of the Fratton End against West Brom, while that priceless 96th-minute winner at Middlesbrough is now in Pompey folklore. 31. Harvey Blair - 6
(16 games, 0 goals) Another injury-hampered season and another campaign when we’re waiting for the ex-Liverpool man to consistently demonstrate his talents. The winger can never catch a break, including being forced off in the 40th minute against Arsenal in the FA Cup, while an injury precaution kept him out of the final match against Birmingham. There are glimpses, such as that assist for Segecic’s first goal at Stoke, yet Blair isn’t fit and available enough to get himself on the pitch to show more. | Iconic Media

32. Franco Umeh - 5
(2 games, 0 goal) Signed from Crystal Palace on deadline day with a hamstring injury. And it went again during his second appearance in January’s FA Cup game against Arsenal to end his season prematurely. Look pacy and powerful in those brief outings, but it really is difficult to judge. | Graham Hunt/ProSportsImages
