A roundup of the latest Championship transfer rumours for Portsmouth’s upcoming rivals.

The wait is almost over — the 2024/25 Championship is almost upon us. After a long summer, clubs in England’s second tier will return to action from Friday onwards and Portsmouth are gearing up for their first match.

Pompey will get their campaign underway with a mouthwatering clash against Leeds United away at Elland Road. The Whites will be back with a vengeance after missing out on promotion to the Premier League last season.

There is still time left on the transfer window for clubs to finalise their summer business as well, so let’s take a look at some of the latest rumours in the Championship.

Scotland duo target Luton Town

Recently relegated Luton Town will return to the Championship this weekend after failing to stay afloat in their maiden Premier League season. The Hatters have already offloaded multiple players this summer, some following the expiration of their contracts and others through sales as they balance out their books.

Luton could be looking to cash in on some more players before the window closes. According to Football Insider, Scottish Premiership duo Aberdeen and Hibs are ‘weighing up’ a move for Allan Campbell, who spent last season on loan with Millwall. The Hatters are ‘willing to listen to offers’ for the midfielder this summer and have now ‘alerted’ clubs across England and Scotland that he is available for a move before Deadline Day.

Leeds ‘willing to increase’ offer for winger

Leeds United have entered an extremely active transfer window, carefully navigating their signings while a huge chunk of their main roster has left the club either permanently or on loan. The action doesn’t seem to be done yet, either.

The Whites continue to show interest in other potential signings and according to Sky Sports, they ‘remain in talks’ with rivals Norwich City over a deal for Jonathan Rowe. Leeds are reportedly ‘willing to increase’ the amount they are looking to pay in order to strike a deal for the winger.

Negotiations are ‘ongoing’ but no formal offers have been placed on the table yet. Leeds will need to act fast if they want to be the ones to sign Rowe, as Premier League clubs are also circling.
