Sean Raggett, Michael Jacobs and Callum Johnson were all brought in on permanent deals, while Cameron Pring and Rasmus Nicolaisen were signed on loan.
The Blues were keen to add to that number, with a late move for Millwall’s Ben Thompson falling short as the transfer window loomed.
Meanwhile, another striker remained on their radar, despite no movement in that department either.
Throughout the summer, front men like Niall Ennis, Matty Taylor and Kevin Nisbet were mentioned as potential suitors to compete with John Marquis and Ellis Harrison.
However, as you know none of them made it to Fratton Park.
In fact, a total of 22 players were linked with a Pompey switch over the summer without completing a transfer to the south coast.
We look back on who these players were and where they eventually ended up if the Blues were not an option.

5. Jake Doyle-Hayes
The Blues were one of several League One clubs apparently interested in the midfielder following his release from Aston Villa. No move was ever made, though, with the Republic of Ireland under-21 international still without a club. Picture: Pete Norton/Getty Images Photo: Pete Norton

6. Herbie Kane
Pompey were linked with the former Liverpool midfielder last summer and they reportedly missed out on him before the latest transfer window shut. According to sources, the Blues made a move before Kane joined Championship Barnsley on a permanent deal. Picture: George Wood/Getty Images Photo: George Wood

7. Josh Reid
Pompey were reportedly keeping tabs on the Ross County defender at the very start of the window as they considered their left-back options. Lee Brown signed a new deal, however, while Cameron Pring was brought in on loan from Bristol City. Reid remains at Ross County, where he's made 10 appearances this season. 8. Alex Cochrane
Another left-back option on Pompey's radar. However, the Blues couldn't guarantee the Brighton youngster game time and nothing materialised. Cochrane has since joined Christian Burgess at Belgian club Royale Union Saint-Gilloise. Picture: Alex Burstow/Getty Images Photo: Alex Burstow
