The game will be the first chance fans will have to see the team managed by Danny Cowley in the flesh, following his arrival in March when restrictions were in place.
It will also provide the first opportunity to get a glimpse of the five signings that have so far arrived through the door at Fratton Park this summer.
Because of the nature of pre-season friendlies, it’s unlikely Cowley will name his strongest starting XI for the game at Westleigh Park.
The head coach will no doubt want to look at certain combinations, have a look at players like Reeco Hackett-Fairchild who spent last season on loan at Southend, and even cast an eye over triallists who have been with the Blues since their return to pre-season training last week.
However, that hasn’t stopped up surmising what Pompey’s strongest Xi would look like if Cowley did go down the route of going strong against the Hawks – or if the season were to start this weekend.
Here’s the starting XI we came up with. Feel free to let us know if you agree or not!

9. Central midfield - Ryan Tunnicliffe
Pompey beat off competition from the likes of Derby County Huddersfield, Barnsley and Hull City for the former Luton man last month. 10. Left-wing - Ronan Curtis
A player who is constantly linked with a move away from Pompey - but whom remains at Fratton Park. While Pompey are open to offers for the Irishman, at the right price, Danny Cowley wants to keep him and make the most of Curtis' ability. A move could still materialise later in the summer. For now, though, the winger needs to keep his numbers up in a Blues shirt - something which Cowley is convince he'll see from the player. Naomi Baker/Getty Images) Photo: Naomi Baker

11. Striker - Ellis Harrison
It remains to be seen if the striker's future remains at Pompey, after being linked with both Oxford and Fleetwood earlier this summer. A switch to Oxford fell by the wayside after the Blues' move for Jayden Stockley was gazumped by Charlton. Yet there's still time for that to be resurrected with Pompey still in the market for forward reinforcements. Cowley has confidence in Harrison's ability. But would want a greater goal return if he did end up staying. Picture: Chris Moorhouse Photo: Chris Moorhouse

12. Striker - John Marquis
Marquis is poised to once again start the season as Pompey's main goalscoring threat. A move for Jayden Stockley collapsed at the last minute and it remains to be seen what Danny Cowley has up his sleeve as a plan B. Marquis is a player who splits fans' opinion. The Hawks game and impressive numbers in pre-season could provide the striker with a chance to put to bed some of the question marks that have accompanied him during his Fratton Park career.
