Pompey will not be hit in the pocket should Ronan Curtis tonight make his Republic of Ireland debut.

It is understood the deal agreed with Derry City over the forward's transfer does not contain a clause for further payment in recognition of international honours.

Despite being a Republic of Ireland under-21 international, such a stipulation was not demanded by the Irish club during negotiations over the 22-year-old's summer move.

Curtis was recruited by the Blues in May for a fee believed to be around £100,000.

That continues to look a bargain following the forward's blistering start to his Fratton Park career.

The Republic of Ireland face Poland tonight (7.45pm) in an international friendly.
