Opening the innings, he struck 107 for Portsmouth 4ths in a Division 6 South East fixture against Fareham & Crofton 4ths at Bath Lane.

In the process, Jones - the cricket development manager of the Hampshire Cricket Board - shared a first wicket stand of 175 with Jordan Howard (62).

Wajahat Rajper then came in at No 3 to swat 74 off just 23 balls with seven sixes and four fours.

In all, Portsmouth blitzed 164 from their last 10 overs, finishing on 310-4. They lent 10-man F & C a fielder for their entire innings.

Jones’ maiden Hampshire League ton came back in 1996 against Hayling Island, with his second coming against Petersfield in 2008. Both were compiled while playing for Bishop’s Waltham.

For Portsmouth, Jones’ highest score had twice been 96.

Emily Mackenzie bagged 2-15 as F & C were hustled out for 103 to lose by 209 runs.

Younger brother George Mackenzie had started the innings by dismissing F & C skipper Steve Dean for a duck. Anthony Tucker and Kieran Prior joint top scored with 24.

Kev Wheatley struck an unbeaten century on only his second appearance for Denmead since 2019.

Entering the game against Emsworth 3rds with a career best score of 83 in 2011, Wheatley collected 16 boundaries in a 103-ball 116 not out.

That helped Denmead post 273-4, with Wheatley sharing stands of 107 for the third wicket with Craig Skeggs (55) and 77 for the fourth with Matt Barnard (17).

Joe Parkins took 4-21 as Emsworth were skittled for 81, losing by 182 runs, with skipper Joe Parkin (40) one of only two batters in double figures.

Dan Broome impressed as Waterlooville 3rds pipped Fair Oak 4ths by 10 runs.

First, he top scored with 62 as Ville posted 241-9. Then he claimed 3-37 - including removing both openers - as Oak replied with 231-7 (Connor Potter 66, S Rhoole 56).
