Port Solent marina celebrates 30th birthday with free '80s-themed family party
A Mediterranean-style marina had been created using reclaimed land in the upper reaches of Portsmouth Harbour.
The idea was to provide a waterside lifestyle, where boat owners could moor right outside their homes and have easy access to the Solent and where visitors could enjoy their leisure time by the water's edge.
At the time it was a bold move by landowner Portsmouth City Council. But 30 years on Port Solent remains a thriving marina for sailors and also a popular destination for people who want to dine, shop, work out or watch a movie.
On Saturday July 28 from noon, you're invited to celebrate Port Solent's 30th birthday with a special free '80s-themed family event.
Enjoy live music from The Bootlegs and It Must Be Madness and see an exhibition of the evolution of Port Solent and the north of Portsmouth.
You can also watch a late night outdoor screening of Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
