Alright punk-poppers Supergrass return with a nationwide tour

They are not so young now, they probably don’t “run green” but let’s hope they keep their teeth nice and clean - Supergrass are heading to Portsmouth as part of a major tour next year.

The Britpop-punkers, who exploded on to the indie scene in the mid-nineties, have become one of the country’s best-loved bands.

Today they have revealed a series gigs next spring which sees the nine-date tour end at Portsmouth Guildhall on May 12.

The band will play nine dates throughout April and May, with shows in Newcastle, Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester, Nottingham, Birmingham, London, Bristol and Portsmouth.

Supergrass have released six studio albums since their 1993 debut I Should Coco, and their tracks include Alright (see the intro), Caught By The Fuzz, Mansize Rooster, Lenny, Going Out, Richard III, Sun Hits The Sky, Pumping On Your Stereo, Moving and Grace.

Singer Gaz Coombes said: “We’re excited to get back into it next year. Last time around was all about ‘I Should Coco’ so for the next live shows we’re going to have some fun going through the records, pulling out even more of them hits & deep cuts for your ears. Bring on Spring 27!”

Artist presale tickets will be available from 10am on Wednesday, September 2, followed by venue presales from 10am Thursday, September 3, with tickets going on general sale at 10am Friday, September 4.
