After a year hiatus due to the pandemic, it is finally time to put on your running shoes.

Events will be taking place throughout the weekend across Portsmouth as part of the Great South Run.

The 10-mile run will be happening on Sunday.

The race has started

The first waves have set off on their 10-mile dash through the streets of Portsmouth.

About 20,000 people are expected to join the action today.

This year will feature four waves of runners, with the fastest-paced competitors setting off first.

How to follow your loved ones during the race

It’s finally time for the triumphant return of the Great South Run.

After two years away from the city, thousands of runners will be lacing up their shoes to take part in the 10-mile race.

All the action of the opening day of the Great South Run weekend has come to an end.

And there has been plenty to cheer about.

Firefighters gear up for a tough run

As if running 10 miles isn’t already tough enough, a team of firefighters will be doing it wearing full kit - and carrying a 15-stone dummy.

The runners, from stations in Cosham and Waterlooville are tackling the event to raise cash for Portsmouth Down Syndrome Association and The Fire Fighters Charity.
