Things to do in Portsmouth and Hampshire: Here are 9 food and drink festivals taking place this summer

Hampshire is hosting plenty of food and drink festivals this summer for the entire family to get their teeth stuck into.
There is a range of events happening over the next two months and if you are a foodie, then here are the dates you need to mark in your calendar.
The Southsea Food Festival is an annual hit with thousands of people flocking to the heart of the city to celebrate some of Hampshire’s best food and drink businesses. The festival will be returning this year and it can be expected to draw people in from neighbouring cities.
From the traditional festivals such as the Southsea Thai Food and Craft Festival to the more unique festivals such as Fizz Fest and Winchester Cheese and Chilli festival, there is something for everyone.
The cheese and chilli festival is set to spice things up. With a chilli eating competition, cooking demonstrations and entertainment, there is so much to do. The event, which is being held at North Walls Recreation Ground, will take place on June 3 at 10am and it will finish on June 4 at 6pm and tickets will cost £8 per adult. Portchester Beer Festival is returning this summer at the Portchester Community Centre on July 22 between 12noon and 11pm. There will be over 30 ales, ciders and perries and something for everyone. The event will be broken into two sessions, the day and the evening, and tickets will cost £10 per person per session. The festival is back for its 7th year and it will take place on September 22 and 24. There will be over 25 real ales, wines and ciders to enjoy alongside Indian street food. There are a number of sessions that you can get tickets to and it will cost £12.50 per person, per session. BBC Good Food Festival is being held at Goodwood this year and there will be numerous things to get your teeth stuck into including pop up bars and street food as well as talks from food experts such as Jane Dunn of Jane’s Patisserie, Becky Excell and Chris Bavin.
