Former community centre goes under auctioneer's hammer
A former community centre in Gosport has sold for twice the guide price in an auction bidding war.
Millpond Community Centre, Jervis Drive, which is freehold and has a total floor area of 29 square metres, fetched £40,000 with 24 bids.
The building was among 174 land and property lots listed across southern England in the online November auction by Clive Emson Auctioneers, a member of Portsmouth Property Association.
Joe Rocks, auction appraiser, said: ‘Such was the interest, there were 24 bids for Millpond, with the final bid of £40,000 twice the guide price.
‘We are not privy to any plans the new owner may or may not have for the property, which comprises main community room, with an accessible WC, a small storage area and a fenced external area.’
With sea views, one-bedroom Flat 2, Freshwater Court, 25 Marine Parade West, Lee-on-the-Solent, fetched £120,000 and is on a 999-year lease from March 1980.
A 0.20-acre site on the north side of Station Road, Petersfield, sold freehold for £10,500.
Clive Emson Auctioneers’ last online auction of eight this year concludes 15 December, with bidding live from 48 hours beforehand.
