Kevin and Sophie Bingham made the decision to hang up their aprons and close the doors of one of Portsmouth’s most loved restaurants in order to have a break from the industry – and customers are desperate to get booked in before they shut down.

Since the couple made the announcement on Facebook on March 13, they have been inundated with emails and phone calls from customers making bookings.

They are officially fully booked every weekend up until July, and on weekdays they are approximately 50 percent booked up until their last trading day, which will be on August 6.

Kevin said: ‘It has gone absolutely mad, I can’t even get my mum in at the moment that’s how busy it is.

‘We are fully booked for the weekends until July – this is what it was like coming out of lockdown, it is so busy.

‘The customers have been quite sad if I’m truthful which is not what we wanted. We want to celebrate and people have been saying that they are so sad to lose us but we are happy with the change.’

The Michelin-listed restaurant has been filling hungry stomachs since it opened almost 15 years ago and is an award-winning business with two AA Rosettes.

Kevin said that it has been emotional because the customer’s reaction to their closure has made them realise that they have done a good job with their business.
