Smart Fogging Solutions, in Rodney Road, Southsea, produced the sanitiser after seeing reports of problems associated with alcohol-based sanitisers in schools, such as children accidentally eating it or it causing burns.

Its new product, called Kapow, is child-friendly, non-hazardous and safe, as well as being environmentally friendly.

It has undergone testing against bacteria and envelope viruses such as Sars and Sars-Cov-2 and has passed EN standards.

It is applied as a foam and works similar to common hand sanitisers but provides a barrier to the skin which lasts up to four hours.

One of the people behind the product, Sam Tuppen said: ‘Being a parent I saw that there was a big need for this. I want to know that my kids are safe, and I want to know that what they are putting on their skin is safe and won’t harm them.

‘We like to call it a hero product. Traditional hand sanitiser doesn’t work if you have dirty hands, so you have to wash your hands first and kids’ hands are always dirty.

‘With this product, its main ingredient is mouthwash, so compared to other hand sanitisers, it is completely safe for kids.’

Another key person involved, Tim Hart, said: ‘It is fast-acting, working in just 30 seconds and lasting four hours, with none of the disadvantages of alcohol-based products.

‘It is free from alcohol, non-flammable, biodegradable and environmentally friendly. It is simple to apply and gentle on skin, as well as being vegan and cruelty free.’

Tim was furloughed in early 2020 and began working with his partner Lisa Digney at her cleaning business.

The two diversified their offering by launching a fogging service to disinfect offices, businesses, homes and taxis to protect businesses from Covid-19.

They have used fogging to clean businesses across Portsmouth, such as the Queens Hotel and the Royal Beach Hotel in Southsea.

The fogging leaves the disinfected area safe and protected for up to seven days.

Kapow retails for £3.99 for a 50ml bottle and £8.99 for a 200ml bottle. Go to smartfoggingsolutions.co.uk/shop/.
