Hundreds of jobs could be created as new plans unveiled for next phase of Daedalus development in Fareham

Applications have been submitted to upgrade the Swordfish Business Park

Hundreds of jobs could be created as Fareham Borough Council unveils new plans for the next phase of the Daedalus development.

Planning applications are being submitted for the infrastructure needed to support development at Swordfish Business Park, including new roads, power, drainage and water services. The proposed plans also include changes to the taxiway layout at Solent Airport.

The proposals are the latest step in Fareham Borough Council’s long-term vision for Daedalus to become a premier location for aviation, aerospace engineering and advanced manufacturing, creating skilled employment opportunities for local people.

Daedalus is already a significant source of local employment, and around 68,000 sqm of employment floorspace has been completed or is under construction. Once all committed developments are complete, the site is expected to support more than 900 jobs. Around 80 businesses currently operate from Daedalus.

Councillor Simon Martin, Leader of Fareham Borough Council, said: “Daedalus has come a long way since the Council first set out its vision for the site, and Swordfish represents an important next step.

“These plans will enable us to open up more land for businesses, attract further investment and create skilled jobs, while ensuring Solent Airport remains an important part of Daedalus.

“We want to build on what has already been achieved and ensure Daedalus continues to grow as one of Fareham’s most important employment locations.”
