Hope for future of Waterlooville's Coffee Ville Cafe as signs show it is 'under new management' following sudden closure

The café closed suddenly in September

Having closed suddenly in September, signs have appeared in the window of an independent coffee shop suggesting it will reopen.

Coffee Ville Cafe in Waterlooville Town Centre shut just over a month ago with notices in the window showing that enforcement officers had visited the site to take the premises back on behalf of the landlord.

The store has been there for a number of years before it closed with the owner taking to Facebook earlier this year advising that the café was for sale.

However, despite closing it appears it may still have a future in the town centre with a new sign appearing in its window advising that it is ‘under new management’. There has not been confirmation as to what the plans are for the store or when it may open again.

The initial closure was a blow to the high street amid the town’s regeneration plans. A number of businesses have closed in the centre of Waterlooville while plans for regeneration continue.

The likes of Harvest View Brownies, Claire’s, Renaissance Apothecary, Giorgio’s, Balance Wellness Club and Amberley Jewellers have closed its doors in the last two years while the Halifax bank closed last week. It has also been confirmed that TG Jones will close down in January.

However, there have been delays to the improvements of the town centre with work initially earmarked to begin at the start of this year pushed back to February 2027 due to a funding gap.

Coffee Ville has seen an increase in competition in the town centre and the surrounding areas with Costa opening its third store in the area and Starbucks opening its first.
