Police conduct immigration checks on Commercial Road under Operation Calebro
The operation aimed to target businesses with concerns around labour exploitation and immigration offences
Police and immigration enforcement undertook a round of immigration checks on Commercial road yesterday (October 22) under Operation Calebro.
The Buckland and Nelson Neighbourhood Policing Team assisted the Modern Slavery and Organised Immigration Crime (MSOIC) to target businesses where there were concerns around potential modern slavery, labour exploitation, and immigration offences.

The operation involved conducting appropriate checks, identifying potential safeguarding concerns or offences, and disrupting any unlawful activity.
Individuals working within some businesses may be vulnerable to exploitation, including illegal working, poor working conditions, low or unfair pay, and other forms of labour exploitation.
No offences were identified by the team, but they remain vigilant in preventing modern slavery and immigration crime.
