Community rallies around Cosham dad who suffered traumatic brain injury in 'horrific' attack
Thousands raised for Cosham dad after assault
Thousands has been raised for a Cosham dad of three after a “horrific” attack left him in hospital for five months.
Callum, 33, suffered a traumatic head injury after he was assaulted in the early hours of Friday, April 24 on Cosham High Street which left him with severe injuries which led to questions over whether he would be able to survive. However, after months of treatment he is now set to return home.
The worry and concern for his young family continues though, with Callum, a self-employed plasterer, unlikely to be able to work again. A close family friend has started a GoFundMe page to help alleviate the pressure on his partner Jessica Rutt as they look to adapt the home to meet his needs while facing an uncertain financial future with Callum the main earner.

Ashleigh West started the fundraiser which has received £7,565 of its £10,000 target. She has been blown away by the support shown from the community.
She said: “I honestly don’t know where to begin to express just how thankful and overwhelmed I am by the incredible support, kindness and generosity that has been shown to Callum, Jess and their beautiful family.
“To see so many people come together to support a family going through such a life-changing experience has been truly humbling. Your generosity is helping to give Callum and his family some hope and security as they face the long road ahead and prepare for this next chapter together at home.”
Callum is described as a “proud and hard working family man” who has shown “remarkable resilience and strength” in his recovery.
Meanwhile, Hampshire Police are continuing to investigate the attack. An 18-year-old and 17-year-old (now also aged 18) from Portsmouth have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent. They remain on conditional bail until October 27.
