Santa to switch on market town lights

FATHER Christmas will arrive by horse and carriage to switch on the Christmas lights in Wickham on Sunday.

Wickham Village Square will be lit up at 5.30pm after shoppers, residents and visitors get the chance to enjoy entertainment provided by local choirs from St Nicholas Church, Wickham Primary School and the Igloo group.

Local businesses and organisations including Knowle Youth Project, The Southern Co-operative, Warwick Lane, Meon Valley Butchers and the Chocolate Shop are providing activities and refreshments in a marquee for all to enjoy.

It takes place between 4pm and 7.30pm, with Santa arriving at 5.30pm to switch on the lights, after which he will make his way to his grotto located in the Kings Head pub where all children are invited to visit him to receive a gift.
