A MAN and a woman have been taken to hospital after they were involved with a collision with a tree last night.

The driver, a man in his 30s, and a woman in her 20s suffered serious injuries after their car, a silver Vauxhall Astra, collided with a tree on Manor Road on Hayling Island.

A police spokeswoman said: ‘We were called at 11.58pm last night (Friday July 24) to a report of a single vehicle collision on Manor Road, involving a silver Vauxhall Astra that left the carriageway and collided with a tree.

‘The driver, a man in his 30s and the passenger, a woman in her 20’s were taken to hospital with serious injuries.’

A tweet from Portchester Fire Station said: ‘@HaylingFire21 & @HavantFire16 mobilised to a RTC trapped in Manor Road, Hayling Island.

‘One car into tree, two persons released by HFRS and handed to @SCAS999 & @SCAS_HART teams. TOC 00.12.’

Police have appealed for witnesses to the accident and anyone with information should call 101.
