Portsmouth fans are all saying the same thing about a potential Matt Ritchie return from Newcastle
It was certainly welcome news when Pompey fans woke up this morning.
The Gosport lad departed the Blues in 2011 after being restricted to just 10 senior appearances before being sold to Swindon by Steve Cotterill.
Now Ritchie is plying his trade in the Premier League with Newcastle.
However, he’s still got a burning desire to again don the star and crescent, revealing he wants to be part of the club again before he retires.
And Ritchie's comments have unsurprisingly gone done a storm among the Fratton faithful, with an overwhelming majority wanting to see him come back.
Here's how supporters have been reacting on social media...

That would be good if he does come back. A great asset- maybe in the championship?

This would be amazing! Shirt sales would go up for sure.

This man oozes passion. Imagine what he’d be like playing for his boyhood club. Get him back in a Pompey shirt once we’re back in the championship. Be our Merson to get us into the Prem.

Would love to see him back here. Will be interesting to see if this plays out in a few years. End of his current contract in 2023 maybe?

Wanting to be the next Merse and inspire a promotion...can’t see him having quite the same impact.

Get Matt Ritchie home

Really hope this happens in a couple of seasons time:
