January is notoriously a difficult time for clubs up and down the country to recruit a new striker.
Although the Blues have yet to confirm they are looking at bringing in a new number nine before the February 2 deadline, it would’ve no doubt crossed the minds of John Mousinho & Co.
Pompey have struggled in front of goal this season, with Colby Bishop netting just one goal in 22 outings and Makenzie Kirk scoring just one in 10 matches.
Meanwhile, Thomas Waddingham has battled fitness issues throughout the campaign, with a quad injury keeping him out of action since September.
It has to be said the Blues are highly unlikely to splash three, four or even five million pounds on strikers so will no doubt have to explore alternative avenues if they wish to strengthen this month.
We’ve scoured the markets and picked out 10 potential options who Pompey could look at in the window.

2. Ryan Hardie - Wrexham
Hardie is a player who has continuously been on the radar of Pompey fans in the build up to the window. The striker, who made the £700,000 move to Wrexham in the summer, has fallen down the pecking order in North Wales, with reports already suggesting an exit this month is likely. The Scotland international has netted just one goal in all competitions for the Red Dragons this term, but did impress in the Championship with relegated Plymouth. 3. Fally Mayulu - Bristol City
The Frenchman, who made a reported £2.5m move to Bristol City in 2024, has struggled for consistent game time during his 18 months at Ashton Gate. This term, the 23-year-old has appeared just 10 times in the Championship, failing to score in any. It was his time with BW Linz and Rapid Vienna which caught the attention of the Robins, which saw him establish himself as a proven goalscorer. He also fits the Blues’ profile, using a combination of pace and power to prove a tricky customer to opposition defences. | Getty Images

4. Lyndon Dykes - Birmingham City
The 48-cap Scotland international has reportedly been given the green light to depart St Andrews this month as he enters the final 18 months of his deal. Despite a tough start to the campaign, Dykes is a proven goalscorer at this level, which saw him net 37 goals during a four-year stay with QPR, along with 10 goals at international level. | Getty Images
