January is notoriously a difficult time for clubs up and down the country to recruit a new striker.
Although the Blues have yet to confirm they are looking at bringing in a new number nine before the February 2 deadline, it would’ve no doubt crossed the minds of John Mousinho & Co.
Pompey have struggled in front of goal this season, with Colby Bishop netting just one goal in 22 outings and Makenzie Kirk scoring just one in 10 matches.
Meanwhile, Thomas Waddingham has battled fitness issues throughout the campaign, with a quad injury keeping him out of action since September.
It has to be said the Blues are highly unlikely to splash three, four or even five million pounds on strikers so will no doubt have to explore alternative avenues if they wish to strengthen this month.
We’ve scoured the markets and picked out 10 potential options who Pompey could look at in the window.

9. Davis Keillor-Dunn - Barnsley
Although Pompey might not want to pay a significant amount for a 28-year-old, the Barnsley man has been outstanding once again in League One. Keillor-Dunn has netted 11 goals in the third tier alreayd this season following heavy interest from Charlton Athletic and Middlesbrough in the summer. The former Mansfield man has scored 56 goals in the past two-and-a-half seasons, which has caught the attention of many over recent year. 10. Jayden Danns - Liverpool
The Liverpool youngster is an intriguing one, with injuries forcing him to miss large chunks of football over the past year. Danns was all set to make the move to Sunderland last January but never completed the switch due to a back issue, which kept him out of the remainder of the campaign. The Dutchman is highly rated at Anfield and with the opportunity of regular league minutes, a Championship move could be of interest. 11. Sinclair Armstrong - Bristol City
The Fratton faithful are well aware of the Republic of Ireland international’s goalscoring abilities, having netted twice in Bristol City’s 5-0 thrashing of the Blues on New Year’s Day. Armstrong is currently vying for a place in Gerhard Struber’s side with Emil Riis and the returning Sam Bell but has only scored just three times for the play-off chasing Robins. If City opt to bring in a new striker this month to help with their top six chances, could a potential loan be on the cards for the 22-year-old? | Getty Images
