January is notoriously a difficult time for clubs up and down the country to recruit a new striker.
Although the Blues have yet to confirm they are looking at bringing in a new number nine before the February 2 deadline, it would’ve no doubt crossed the minds of John Mousinho & Co.
Pompey have struggled in front of goal this season, with Colby Bishop netting just one goal in 22 outings and Makenzie Kirk scoring just one in 10 matches.
Meanwhile, Thomas Waddingham has battled fitness issues throughout the campaign, with a quad injury keeping him out of action since September.
It has to be said the Blues are highly unlikely to splash three, four or even five million pounds on strikers so will no doubt have to explore alternative avenues if they wish to strengthen this month.
We’ve scoured the markets and picked out 10 potential options who Pompey could look at in the window.

5. Tammer Bany - West Brom
Bany has struggled to make an impact during his 12 months at West Brom after making a £3.3m move from Randers FC last January. Having failed to score in any of his seven outings at the Hawthorns, the Baggies are believed to be willing to cut their losses over 23-year-old, who had previously enjoyed success in Denmark. 6. Sam Gallagher - Stoke City
It’s been a frustrating start to the campaign for the 30-year-old, who netted his first goal of the season for Stoke against Norwich on Sunday. Reports are suggesting the experienced striker could depart the Bet365 Stadium this month and is very much up for grabs before the February 2 deadline. Gallagher knows where the net is in the Championship, which has seen him score 57 goals and provide 23 assists at this level. | Getty Images

7. Aaron Loupalo-Bi - Fulham
Pompey do like venturing into the Premier League 2 and have a history of bringing in young players and providing them with a first league loan. The 20-year-old has risen through the ranks at Craven Cottage and is the top scorer in the Premier League 2 this season, with seven goals in eight games. The young talent has netted 46 goals at youth level for the Cottagers. 8. Michael Frey - QPR
Frey is another Championship number nine who is likely to be available for a move this January, with reports suggesting Julien Stephan is happy for the 31-year-old to depart. News of a potential Loftus Road exit comes months after the Swiss netted 10 goals in his maiden campaign for the Hoops. Standing at 1.88 meters, Frey does fit the profile Mousinho likes in attack. | Getty Images
