From the despair of QPR to preserving their Championship status just six games later, it has been another emotionally exhausting season for Pompey.
Certainly few among the Fratton faithful wouldn’t have anticipated staying up with two games to spare after that 6-1 hammering at Loftus Road.
Still, John Mousinho has once again overseen survival, steering the Blues into 18th position and collecting one more point than last term.
And here are Neil Allen’s Pompey player ratings for the season…

25. Minhyeok Yang - 7
(16 games, 3 goals) Will always be remembered for that 98th-minute winner against Charlton in December in what turned out to be his final Pompey match. In their infinite wisdom, Spurs decided Yang wasn’t playing enough and were not keen on him being involved in a relegation battle, so recalled him and sent him to Coventry. Where he totalled 29 minutes of Championship football. For Pompey, he showed excellent technique, skill and mobility, while also scored against Watford and Middlesbrough at Fratton Park with lovely finishes. More effective on the left wing, there were promising moments. Yet the South Korean international was too lightweight, disappeared on many occasions, with Birmingham a fine example, and didn’t do anywhere near enough to command a regular starting place. | Local Library

26. Josh Murphy - 7
(16 games, 0 goals) Swept up in the Player of the Season honours in 2024-25, yet injury devastated his follow-up campaign, depriving Pompey of a hugely influential performer. It’s to their credit they managed to remain in the Championship having been without their best player for most of it, although, remarkably, Murphy still managed seven assists in his 16 outings. Among the highest in the league. Last week had an operation to repair a groin tear, so missed the final match against Birmingham. Hopefully the classy left winger can be over his injury issues next season. | Graham Hunt/ProSportsImages

27. Millenic Alli - 7
(21 games, 1 goal) Enjoyed a whirlwind start to his Fratton Park career after arriving on loan from Luton, with fans clamouring for him to become a payment signing at the season’s end. Yet by the time the campaign concluded, very few will be left championing him. While the left winger played an important role in the Blues’ survival, mainly those early outings, his form largely deserted him after February. Perhaps through overuse, perhaps through tiredness, yet the outcome was the same - frustratingly ineffective. It’s a shame, on his day he tore teams apart, particularly Sheffield Wednesday and West Brom. | Graham Hunt

28. Keshi Anderson - 6.5
(7 games, 1 goal) Suffered a hamstring injury in training just 15 days into his Pompey career and after 39 minutes of first-team football. When he returned two months later, he produced a man-of-the-match display and goal in the 2-2 draw with Oxford. That U’s performance alone demonstrated what the former Birmingham man is capable of - only to suffer another hamstring injury just three games later. Clearly a huge character around the club and capable of creating, yet injuries remain a concern going forward. | Graham Hunt/ProSportsImages
