Jon Corbin, from Cowplain, will be opening The Junk Emporium in Waterlooville Town Centre at 10am on Tuesday, October 22. It will be the second branch of the business to open with the original store in Rodney Road, Portsmouth, proving a success since it opened two and a half years ago.

Despite only opening their first shop over two years ago, the family business has been running for closer to 45 years, previously selling items at markets throughout the area. Jon said: “Our mission is to rehome and recycle as many items as possible, otherwise they end up in landfill. We are passion about this and believe everything deserves a second chance.

“We sell anything from a teaspoon to a wardrobe, we do carpets, underlay, vinyl and artificial grass. We buy bankrupt and liquidation stock, house clearances and wholesale, anything to stop it going to landfill.”

The Corbin family can’t wait to open the doors in Waterlooville, with Jon’s son set to manage the new store. Jon said: “We are really excited to open. It has been a lot of hard work. For the last four weeks we have worked from 8am until 11pm trying to get it prepped and ready to open. All the while still running the Portsmouth one, it has been hard work.

“We have always wanted to open up another branch and we are from the Waterlooville area so it was nice to get something nearer to home.”

The opening on Tuesday will also have a very special guest. Father Christmas will be attending as the shop’s opening brings Christmas to Waterlooville early.

Jon is looking forward to showing new customers what they have in store. He said: “All I can say is watch this space, there is going to be some very good bargains.
