Hitchcock the 'gentle' ex-racing greyhound is searching for his first real home

Meet Hitchcock

The ex-racing greyhound has been described as a ‘gentle soul’ that is now hoping to find his first real home.

Currently living at RSPCA Stubbington Ark, the three-year-old dog is taking everything at his own pace and slowly starting to come out of his shell with the team.

He enjoys walks but can be a little nervous at times with new people. However he has shown that after meeting someone a few times, he is capable of forming bonds with them which allows him to be more confident.

Stubbington Ark said: “Like most ex-racing greyhounds Hitchcock can find wildlife and cats quite interesting and may pull towards them at times though he is doing very well learning to move on.

“Hitchcock would be suited to most home set-ups however potential adopters should be aware that he has never lived in a home before and so will likely need toilet training.”

Although the centre believes Hitchcock could be left for a period of time, this will need to be slowly built up after he has settled into his new home.

He is looking for an adult-only home that has no small animals or cats, but he could live with another dog of a similar size pending successful visits that would be supervised by the team at the Ark.

Hitchcock is up to date with flea, worming and vaccinations. He has also been castrated prior to his arrival at the Ark and currently has no ongoing medical conditions.

The adoption fee for Hitchcock is £220 - for more information about adopting this precious pooch, click here.
